Nick Thompson is a professional long course triathlete from Perth, Western Australia. He won Ironman Cairns in 2026, finished seventh at the 2025 Ironman World Championship in Nice, and holds an Ironman personal best of 7:39:42. He is ranked #29 in the world and #2 in Australia.

Long bio

Nick Thompson, 26, is an Australian professional triathlete who races the Ironman and Ironman 70.3 distances. Based in Perth, Western Australia, he turned professional in 2023 and won Ironman 70.3 Sunshine Coast in his first season.

In 2024 he won Ironman 70.3 Tasmania and made his Ironman World Championship debut in Kona, Hawaii, finishing 21st. In 2025 he finished seventh at the Ironman World Championship in Nice, second at Ironman Cairns, third at Ironman 70.3 Zell am See, and set a personal best of 7:39:42 at Ironman Texas.

In June 2026 he won Ironman Cairns in 7:49:48, taking the lead on the bike inside 20 km and finishing more than seven minutes clear. He is ranked #29 in the world and #2 in Australia by the Professional Triathletes Organisation, with the bike as his strongest discipline (world #18). He is supported by HOKA, Factor Bikes, 2XU and Deep Heat.
